Does the desktop kiosk work on Windows and Mac?
Yes. It runs on Windows 11 or later and on Macs with Apple silicon (M1 chip or later). Download it from Registration > Badge Printing > Download Kiosk Desktop Apps in the admin panel, and choose Windows or Mac M1. See How to Download and Install Eventify Kiosk on Windows or Mac.
Why does my computer show a security prompt when I install it?
The app is installed from outside the Microsoft Store and Mac App Store, so the operating system may ask you to confirm the first time. On Windows, click More info, then Run anyway. On Mac, right-click the app and choose Open, or use Open Anyway in System Settings > Privacy & Security. Download the app only from the link in your admin panel.
How do I update the app?
Download the latest installer from the same place in the admin panel and install it again. The version number shows in the bottom right corner of the kiosk screen.
What do I need to set up in the admin panel first?
Save Kiosk Setup and create at least one badge template, even for a check-in only kiosk. See How to Prepare Your Event for the Desktop Kiosk.
How do staff log in to the kiosk?
With the email and password of an Eventify account that has access to your event, such as the one you use for the admin panel. See How to Log In, Choose an Event and Log Out of the Desktop Kiosk.

Which printers can I use?
Any printer installed on the computer with a working Windows or macOS driver. That includes Brother and Zebra label printers, other badge printers, and office laser or inkjet printers. See How to Set Up a Badge Printer and Kiosk Settings on the Desktop Kiosk.
Does the kiosk show a print dialog?
No. The badge goes straight to the printer chosen under Printers in the kiosk's Settings, at the size set on your badge template.
Can I print fold-over badges?
Yes. Turn on Two Sided Badge in Kiosk Setup. See How to Print Two-Sided and Fanfold Badges on the Desktop Kiosk.
Can I stop attendees printing extra badges?
Yes. Use Allow Multiple Print and No of reprints allowed in Kiosk Setup, and set a passcode so staff can approve genuine reprints. See How to Manage Reprints, Passcodes, Photos and Edits on the Desktop Kiosk.
Can I check people in without printing badges?
Yes. Turn on Allow Checkin Only in Kiosk Setup. Attendees scan and are checked in straight away. See How to Check In Attendees and Print Badges with the Desktop Kiosk.
Does the kiosk work without internet?
Yes, once the attendee list is downloaded. Scanning, name search and printing keep working. Check-ins made offline wait on the laptop until you click Sync All in the Offline Check-in Logs. See How to Download Attendees and Sync the Desktop Kiosk.
Can I run several kiosks for one event?
Yes. Install the app on each laptop, log in and choose the same event on each one. Each laptop downloads its own copy of the attendee list.
Can attendees register at the kiosk?
If you turn on Allow Registration(requires internet) in Kiosk Setup, a Registration button opens your registration link in the computer's web browser. There's no registration form inside the kiosk.
Does the desktop kiosk do session check-in?
No. It checks attendees in to the event. For sessions, see How To Manage Session Check-Ins.
Can I use a USB barcode scanner?
Yes. Turn on External Scanner in the kiosk's Settings. See How to Use a Webcam or USB Barcode Scanner with the Desktop Kiosk.
Is attendee data kept on the laptop?
Yes. The kiosk keeps a copy of the attendee list on the laptop so it can work offline. Logging out removes the downloaded list and any check-ins waiting to sync. Use a computer account set aside for the kiosk, and log out when the event is over.
Can attendees see other people's details?
Search results show names with partly hidden email addresses. Place the laptop so attendees can reach the screen and scanner but not the keyboard or trackpad, because the Settings, Sync and Logout buttons don't ask for a passcode.
Which should I choose?
Choose the desktop kiosk if you want to use laptops and any printer that has a Windows or Mac driver. Choose the kiosk mode in the Eventify mobile app for iPads or Android tablets with supported Brother or Zebra printers on the network or Bluetooth. Both use the same Kiosk Setup and badge templates. See How to Set Up Kiosk Mode on Eventify and Which Printers Can I Use to Print Badges?.
