Each choice in a Dropdown question on your registration form has two parts: the Option and the Value. The Option is what registrants see and select. The Value is what Eventify saves on the attendee's record when that choice is selected.
Option vs Value at a glance
- Option: the label shown on the registration form, for example "Vegetarian Meal". This is also what appears in the column for that question when you export your attendee list.
- Value: the answer stored behind the scenes when someone picks that Option, for example "veg".
By default most organisers give the Option and the Value the same text, such as "Gold" and "Gold". That works well for most forms. Use a different Value only when you need a short or consistent code in your data.
Example
A "Meal Preference" dropdown could be set up like this:
- Option "Vegetarian Meal" with Value "veg"
- Option "Non-Vegetarian Meal" with Value "nonveg"
A registrant sees and picks "Vegetarian Meal". Eventify saves "veg" on their record, and the attendee export shows "Vegetarian Meal" in the Meal Preference column.
Where to set them
- In the Admin Panel, go to Registration > Registration Forms.
- Click Edit on your form.
- Open the Dropdown question and fill in the Option and Value for each choice.
- Save the form.
Tips
- Give every choice in a question its own Value, so answers can be told apart.
- Set your Values before you open registration. Saved answers keep the Value that was chosen at the time, so changing a Value later doesn't update answers people have already given.
- To fix a typo in what registrants see, edit the Option and leave the Value as it is.

Which one appears in my attendee export?
The Option. The export shows the label registrants selected, such as "Vegetarian Meal", not the Value.
Do the Option and Value have to be different?
No. They can be the same, and on most forms they are.
Can I change the Option text after people have registered?
Yes. Edit the Option to change what registrants see, and keep the Value the same so existing answers still match the choice.
