Mobile app only: this feature is available in the Eventify mobile app. It isn't available in the web portal.
When you meet someone at the event, scan their badge QR code, or the QR code on their phone, with the Eventify app. They're saved to your My Scans list and their profile opens, so you can connect, message or book a meeting later.
Open the QR screen from any of these places:
Then tap Scan QR at the top of the screen. Your event may show only some of these options.
#image# App: QR Code screen on the Scan QR tab with the camera view and the My Scans button
The first time you scan, the app asks to use your camera: "Camera access is required to scan QR codes and check in." Tap Continue, then allow camera access for the app.
If you turned camera access off earlier, the app shows "This app needs permission to use this feature. You can grant them in app settings". Tap Settings, turn on the camera for the app, then come back. See How Attendees Can Manage Push Notifications and App Permissions in the Mobile App.
If you've scanned this person before, you see "This user is already added to your contact list." and their profile opens again.
Scanning saves the person to your list. It doesn't send them a connection request. To connect, tap Send Request or Message on their profile. You can also tap Let's Meet to book a meeting. See How Attendees Can Find and Connect with Other Attendees.
The other person needs their own QR code on show. They find it on the MY QR tab of the same screen. If they haven't shown it before, they tap Allow and Show QR first. See How Attendees Can Find and Download Their Personal QR Code.
The same scanner also opens exhibitor, sponsor and speaker pages when you scan their codes, and checks you in to sessions that use QR check-in. See How Attendees Can Check In to a Session and Rate It.
#image# App: My Scans list with a "You've been scanned" tag on one row and the export icon at the top
The list includes the people you scanned and the people who scanned you. People who scanned you have a green "You've been scanned" tag. Exhibitors and sponsors you scanned are listed too.
To export the list:
Send Email sends the list to your email address. You see "Contacts have been emailed to you!". Save to device creates a spreadsheet (CSV) file and opens your phone's share menu, so you can save it to your files or send it to another app.
If you haven't scanned anyone yet, the list shows "No Scan(s) Found".
Can I scan badges in the web portal?
No. Scanning uses your phone's camera and is only in the app. The portal in your browser shows your own QR code under My Scans.
Does the person know I scanned them?
Yes. You appear in their own My Scans list with the "You've been scanned" tag.
Can I scan badges offline?
No. If your phone is offline, you see "No Internet Connection". Connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data and scan again.
Does scanning a badge send a connection request?
No. Scanning saves the person to your My Scans list. To connect, tap Send Request or Message on their profile.
How do I export the contacts I scanned?
Tap the export icon at the top of My Scans, then choose Send Email or Save to device for a CSV file.
Don't see this? Your organiser decides which features are switched on for your event and who can use them. See Why Attendees Can't See a Feature in the Event Portal.
