Communities are topic groups where attendees post, reply and meet each other before and during the event.
You need networking turned on to post, comment, react or RSVP. If it's off, the portal asks you to turn it on first. See How Attendees Can Control Networking and GDPR Consent.
Find and follow communities
Your event may call this section something else, such as Groups or Discussions.

- Open Community from the menu.
- The Community tab lists every community you can see. Each card shows its name, description, how many posts it has, and when the last reply was posted. A red "New" badge counts posts you haven't seen.
- Click a card to open it.
The first time you visit, a popup called "Interesting Topics You Can Follow..." lists public communities. Click Follow on any you want to keep up with. The button changes to Following.
The Activities tab shows posts you've interacted with. Use the tag filter ("Filter by: Tags") or sort by Sort by Most Commented, Sort by Most Liked or Sort by Trending.
Join a private community
A private community has a lock icon on its card.
- Click the private community.
- Read the name, member count and description in the dialog.
- Click Request to Join.
The dialog closes and your request goes to your organiser. While it's waiting, the button shows Cancel Request, which you can click to withdraw it. Once accepted, you can open the community like any other. Some communities are for members only and don't appear in the list unless you've been added.
Add a post
Each community is set up by your organiser as one type. The button you see depends on the type.

- Posts: New Post. Post Title (up to 100 characters) and Post Details (up to 2000).
- Jobs: Post. Job Title, Job Type (Full-time or Part-time), Job Location, Job Description and When Apply.
- Meetups: Make a post. In-Person or Virtual, Meetup Title, Meetup Description, Start date, Time, and a location or Meeting Link.
- Introductions (icebreakers): New Introduction. Introduction, an Icebreaker Question from your organiser's list, and Your Answer.
- Group chat: Message box. A message, with any file attached.
- Click the button for the community type.
- Fill in the form. Fields you must complete show "This field is required!" if left empty.
- Click Make a post or Post to publish.
For a job, When Apply decides what happens when someone applies. "Collect as Leads" keeps a list of applicants for you. "Open External URL" sends them to a web address you add under External URL.
In an icebreaker community, the introduction form opens by itself on your first visit. You post one introduction. If your organiser reviews posts before they appear, yours shows once approved.
Comment, react, RSVP and apply
- React: click the like or emoji button on a post. Click "View all reactions" to see who reacted.
- Comment: type in "Write a comment". Type @ to mention someone or # to add a hashtag. You can attach an image.
- Edit or delete your comment: use the comment's menu. Edited comments show "Edited".
- Meetups: click RSVP. It changes to You're Going. Click the RSVP avatars to see who else is going.
- Jobs: click Apply for this Job. To withdraw, click Revoke My Application. If the job uses an external link, the link opens instead.
- Your own "Collect as Leads" job: click Export Applicants to download the list.
- Group chat: type in the message box, attach an image, video or document, and reply to a specific message.
