Networking controls whether your profile is shared with other participants at the event. With it on, people can find you, connect and message you. With it off, you stay private, but you can't interact with others either.

When you try something that needs networking, the Networking & GDPR Consent dialog opens. It says "By proceeding, you acknowledge and agree that your profile information will be shared with other attendees of this event."
You see "Your profile is updated successfully." You can then go back and do what you were trying to do.
Where a comment box would normally be, you may see "Please Turn On Networking / GDPR Consent" instead. Click that text to open the same dialog.

As the dialog says, "You can always turn this on/off from your profile section."
See How Attendees Can Complete and Edit Their Event Profile. If you can't find the field, contact your organiser.
If your profile has been set to invisible, you see "Your profile is invisible. Interactions are not allowed for your account." when you try to message or connect. Other people see "Invisible profile (No interactions)" on your profile. Contact your organiser if you think this is wrong.
Why does someone show as "Guest User"?
They've turned networking off or their profile is hidden, so their name isn't shared.
Can I look around the event without turning networking on?
Yes. You can browse sessions, speakers and exhibitors with networking off. You need it on for actions such as RSVP, commenting and messaging.
