Eventify has two separate grids on the Matchmaking settings page. They are independent of each other and control different things:
| Grid | What it controls | When it appears |
|---|---|---|
| Matchmaking Grid | Which group pairs receive connection suggestions | Only when mode = Advanced Rules |
| Visibility Grid | Which group pairs can see each other in the attendee directory | When "Users Visibility Rules" toggle is enabled |

The Matchmaking Grid appears as a table where rows are "from" groups and columns are "to" groups. Each cell controls whether that group pair receives suggestions.
Cell states:
Click any cell to toggle it on or off.

Above the grid, a legend bar shows live counts:

Each grid cell supports two types of rules, depending on whether the cell is enabled or disabled:
| Cell state | Rule type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Enabled (green) | Exception Rule | Excludes a specific subset of this group pair from receiving suggestions |
| Disabled (grey) | Custom Rule | Allows a specific subset of this group pair to bypass the block and receive suggestions |
To add rules to a cell:

The Visibility Grid controls which attendee groups can see each other's profiles in the directory — separately from whether they receive suggestions.
To enable it:

When a matchmaking cell is enabled for a group pair, the corresponding visibility cell is automatically checked and locked. It cannot be unchecked while matchmaking is active for that pair — a "Locked" label and tooltip explain why.

Q: The Matchmaking Grid is not visible. Why?
The Matchmaking Grid only appears when the suggestion mode is set to Advanced Rules. Switch to Advanced Rules to see and configure the grid.
Q: Can I restrict directory visibility without affecting matchmaking suggestions?
Yes. Enable the Users Visibility Rules toggle to activate the Visibility Grid. This is completely independent of the matchmaking mode — you can restrict visibility even when matchmaking is Disabled.
Q: What's the difference between an exception rule and a custom rule?
An exception rule is added to an enabled cell — it carves out a specific subset that should NOT receive suggestions despite the general match being on. A custom rule is added to a disabled cell — it allows a specific subset to bypass the block.
Q: Why is a visibility cell greyed out and locked?
If the corresponding matchmaking cell is enabled, the visibility cell is automatically locked to "visible." You cannot hide a group pair in the directory while matchmaking is actively suggesting them to each other.
Q: I made changes to the grid but they disappeared. What happened?
If you navigate away without clicking Publish, changes are lost. Always look for the red "Unsaved Changes" indicator before leaving the page.
