Matchmaking controls whether the Eventify app suggests other attendees to your participants. When enabled, attendees see a "Suggested Contacts" screen with pre-matched profiles they can connect with in one tap — without needing to search manually.
Navigate to Dashboard → Engagement → Networking → Matchmaking to find three radio button options:

| Mode | What happens |
|---|---|
| Disabled | No suggestions are shown to attendees. Attendees can still discover each other manually through the directory. |
| Common Interest-based | Suggestions are generated based on shared interests attendees selected during registration. No grid configuration required. |
| Advanced Rules | Suggestions follow custom group-to-group rules you define in the Matchmaking Grid. Attendee interests are not used. |

Q: Is the matchmaking mode a dropdown or radio buttons?
Radio buttons. There are three inline options — Disabled, Common Interest-based, and Advanced Rules — on the matchmaking settings page.
Q: Can I use both Common Interest-based matching and visibility restrictions at the same time?
Yes. The matchmaking mode and the visibility grid are separate settings. You can set matchmaking to Common Interest-based while also enabling the Visibility Grid to restrict which groups can see each other.
Q: Do attendees need to fill in interests for Advanced Rules to work?
No. Advanced Rules uses the group-based Matchmaking Grid, not attendee interests. Interests are only relevant for Common Interest-based mode.
Q: What happens if I switch from Advanced Rules to Disabled after already configuring the grid?
The grid settings are preserved in the database. Switching to Disabled hides the grid in the UI but does not delete the rules — they will reapply if you switch back to Advanced Rules.
