The Announcement feature lets you display a scrolling marquee banner inside your event app — visible to all attendees the moment they open it. Unlike push notifications, an announcement doesn't ping attendees' devices. It lives inside the app itself as a persistent, eye-catching message.
This is separate from push notifications. Announcements do not send to devices — they display inside the event app.
From your event dashboard, go to Outreach → Push Notifications and click the Announcement tab.
Check the Enable Announcement checkbox at the top of the form. If this is unchecked, no announcement will display in the app — even if you have saved text.
Type your announcement message in the text field. Keep it concise — this text will scroll across the top of the app in a marquee-style banner.
A live preview appears below the form, showing exactly how your announcement will look inside the event app — rendered as a scrolling banner against an app background.
Click Save. Your announcement goes live inside the event app immediately. All attendees will see the scrolling banner the next time they open or refresh the app.
To change the message, edit the text and click Save again. To remove the announcement from the app, uncheck Enable Announcement and save.
Q: Does the Announcement send a notification to attendees' phones?
A: No. The Announcement is an in-app banner only. It displays inside the event app but does not trigger a push notification or device alert.
Q: Can I style the announcement text (bold, colors)?
A: The announcement is plain text and scrolls as a marquee. Formatting options are not available.
Q: How long does the announcement stay visible?
A: Until you disable it or delete the text. It remains active until you uncheck the Enable Announcement checkbox and save.
Q: Can I have multiple announcements running at once?
A: No. There is one announcement banner per event. Update the existing text to change the message.
Q: Is there a character limit for announcements?
A: Yes — a maximum character limit applies. The field will prevent you from entering text beyond the limit.
Q: Can attendees dismiss the announcement?
A: The announcement scrolls automatically. Attendee-facing dismiss behavior depends on the app version.
