Your event email is only as good as its subject line. Event emails already get higher open rates than most marketing email (often 25–45%), but a vague subject line can halve that.

Below are 120+ event email subject lines grouped by stage, from the first save-the-date to the post-event follow-up. Replace the [BRACKETED] fields with your details. Need the email body too? Every subject line type below has a matching template in our 50 free event email templates.

What Makes a Good Event Email Subject Line?

  • Name the event or the benefit. “[EVENT_NAME]: 3 speakers you can't miss” beats “Newsletter #14”.
  • Put the time first in reminders. “Tomorrow”, “In 1 hour” and “Last chance” are scanned before anything else.
  • Keep it under about 50 characters so it isn't cut off on mobile.
  • Use urgency honestly. Only say “last chance” when it really is.
  • Personalise. A first name or company name in the subject line usually lifts opens.
  • Use the preview text. Treat it as a second subject line, not “View in browser”.

Tips to Test and Improve Your Event Subject Lines

  • A/B test one variable at a time, such as with or without the speaker name, or emoji or no emoji.
  • Measure registrations, not just opens. Clickbait subject lines can raise opens and lower conversions.
  • Check how it looks on mobile. Most event emails are opened on phones.
  • Avoid spam triggers such as ALL CAPS, “FREE!!!” and too many symbols.
  • Keep sender names consistent. Attendees should recognise “[EVENT_NAME] Team” in their inbox.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good subject line for an event email?

A good event subject line names the event or the main benefit, includes the date or timing when relevant, and stays under about 50 characters, for example “You're invited: [EVENT_NAME] on [DATE]”.

Should I use emojis in event email subject lines?

One relevant emoji, such as 📅 or 🎟, can help a subject line stand out. Test it with your audience; some B2B audiences respond better without them.

How long should an event email subject line be?

Aim for 30–50 characters (about 4–8 words). Longer subject lines get cut off on mobile.

What is a good subject line for an event reminder?

Lead with timing and keep it factual, for example “Tomorrow: [EVENT_NAME] starts at [TIME]” or “Live in 1 hour: your join link”.
