A Quest is a multi-step treasure hunt challenge where attendees complete a series of tasks to earn points and rewards. Tasks can involve scanning QR codes at physical locations, uploading photos or files, or entering verification text. Quests create immersive, exploratory experiences that drive deeper event engagement.
Best for: Venue scavenger hunts, team-building activities, sponsor engagement trails, interactive tours, and multi-step networking missions.
Treasure Hunt Title (required, max 100 characters) — the name attendees see in the app (e.g. "Venue Explorer Hunt", "Sponsor Trail").
Short Description (required, max 300 characters) — explain the quest's theme and objective to attendees.
Task Mode (required) — choose how attendees must complete tasks:
| Mode | How It Works |
|---|---|
| Sequential Task Mode | Tasks must be completed in order. Each task is locked until the previous one is done. Use this for a guided trail with a defined path. |
| Any Order | All tasks are available from the start. Attendees can complete them in any sequence. Use this for open exploration or when tasks are independent. |
Add the individual steps of the quest. Click + Add Another Task to add each step.
For each task, configure:
Task Completion Method (required) — select one per task:
| Method | How It Works | Verification |
|---|---|---|
| Scan a QR Code | Attendee scans a QR code at a physical location or checkpoint | Automatic — points awarded instantly |
| Upload Photo or Video | Attendee submits a photo or video as proof of progress | Manual — admin must approve before points are awarded |
| Verification Text | Attendee types a text answer or code word | Manual — admin must approve before points are awarded |
Manual Verification checkbox — for Upload and Text tasks, check the "Entries require host verification before points are credited" checkbox to enable admin review before points are awarded. This is recommended to maintain challenge integrity.
Reordering tasks — drag any task row by its handle to reorder the task sequence. This is especially important in Sequential mode where order determines the attendee journey.

For tasks requiring manual verification (file uploads and text entries):
Q: Can I add more tasks to a Quest after it's been created?
A: Yes. Edit the quest and add tasks in the Create Challenges tab. Attendees who have already completed earlier tasks are not affected.
Q: What happens if an attendee can't complete a task because a QR code is missing?
A: In Sequential mode, the attendee is blocked from progressing to the next task. Always print and verify QR code placements before the event starts.
Q: Can attendees see how many tasks remain in the quest?
A: Yes. The app shows a progress indicator so attendees can track their quest completion.
Q: Can I run multiple quests at the same event simultaneously?
A: Yes. Create as many quests as needed. Each runs independently with its own tasks, dates, and leaderboard.
