Technology is easily one of the most rapidly evolving industries at present. A recent Forrester report estimated that the worldwide tech industry is expanding at an annual rate of close to 5%. Every month, many high-profile tech-related events, conferences and trade shows are organized in different countries – primarily to reflect on the latest developments in this domain, as well as give major players/startups suitable platforms to network with each other. This August too, there is a lineup of different types of tech events – and we will turn our attentions on it over here:
Billed as the biggest event related to the computer and video gaming industry, Gamescom opens its doors this year on August 22. The 5-day event will be held at the Cologne Exhibition Center, and is expected to bring in a large number of product distributors, retailers, developers, suppliers, import-export agents and final users, as exhibitors and attendees. The first day of the event (‘Media Day’) is exclusively reserved for corporate visitors. Gamescom will focus on the market for computer-games and video-games in Europe, and will offer top-notch networking opportunities for all visitors. The latest highlights from the global gaming industry will be presented in the ‘Gamescom Entertainment Area’, along with live performances, indoor demos, and much more. The ‘Gamescom Business Area’, on the other hand, will serve as an ideal meeting-place for industry insiders and influencers. Workshops, conferences, summits and special networking sessions will all feature in the schedule of Gamescom 2017.

That Conference 2017
Set to be organized at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells, the 2017 edition of That Conference promises to be a lot of fun. This annual event focuses on a wide range of mobile, web and cloud technology – ranging from app development and internet of things (IoT), to robotics, coding, community tech and other topics. Microsoft is the principal sponsor of the event, which will be bolstered by the presence of several eminent keynote speakers. Informative, in-depth conference sessions – covering a myriad of cutting-edge issues – will be held during the show. There is a special ‘Family Schedule’ as well (which will include a ‘Cool Kids Coding’ session). That conference is tech-agnostic, and is promoted as a ‘summer camp for geeks’. This year’s edition starts on 7 August.

For those interested in digital technology, VMWorld will be the event to watch out for. Organized by VMWare, the event will be hosted at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Convention Center, from the 27th to the 31st of August. VMWorld 2017 will witness active participation from a wide cross-section of professional visitors, primarily from the fields of cloud infrastructure and digital enterprise. A number of industry decision-makers and thought leaders will be present too. Attendees will get ample opportunities to interact with each other, learn new insights, and take part in knowledge-sharing activities. The five-day event will have as many as 7 different tracks, including the new ‘Leading Digital Transformation’ track (for IT professionals, tech architects and digital consultants). A series of panel discussions, breakout sessions and informative group discussions will be organized during VMWorld 2017, while hands-on lab sessions will also be hosted.

Wonder Women Tech
The Wonder Women Tech (WWT) Long Beach conference will focus exclusively on the growing role of women in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) industries. There will be an emphasis on education, with more than 1500 career fairs scheduled to be held – and well over 50 exhibitors likely to participate in the event. High-level dynamic programming conferences are among the prime attractions of WWT Long Beach 2017, with interactive hackathons, coding sessions, thought leadership classes and learning workshops also slated to happen during the event. It will be a 3-day event, kickstarting on August 18 (pre-conference day on August 17) – at the Long Beach Convention Center. The ‘Science Fair Showcase’, ‘Junior Innovation Camp’ and ‘STEAM Camps’ at the event will boost its overall attractions further.

The 5th edition of TheAugustFest will be held in Mumbai (19-20 August) and Hyderabad (26-27 August), and will include as many as 6 different events in all (across the two cities). The total number of attendees at the event is expected to go beyond 15000 – and the visitors in Mumbai will have the option of attending the ‘Media Festival’ as well as the ‘Growth Conference’ (featuring revenue model discussions, workshops, etc.). There will be a focus on social innovation as well. During the Hyderabad leg of TheAugustFest, there will be a ‘Sports Carnival’, a ‘Scaleup Festival’, and a very interesting ‘Future Festival’ (related to tech topics like virtual reality, robotics, IoT, machine learning, big data and bots). Over 100 pitches are likely to be made at this year’s edition of this event, and 50+ industry workshops will be held. Litmus Live Boston
This one is easily one of the most well-attended email marketing-related business event in the world. The Boston edition of Litmus Live will be held from the 2nd to the 4th of August, and is set to bring in more than 1300 visitors and an impressive 80+ keynote speakers. The program agenda at Litmus Live Boston 2017 will be divided in three tracks and over 30 sessions. Videos and slides of the conference sessions are made available to the visitors – and the general business networking opportunities will be at par with the best. A wide gamut of topics will be deliberated upon during the sessions – ranging right from automated email development and mail designing backed by data, to cross-channel email tactics and lifecycle campaign planning. Given the fact that 96% of past attendees of Litmus Live have expressed their willingness to visit again, one can easily gauge the popularity of this tech event.

Draper and Dash Industry Networking & Product Launch Event
Draper & Dash, a leading firm in the health technology and business intelligence application domains, will be organizing a single-day (on August 8) industry networking event. Level 39 of the One Canada Square in London – which has the offices of several top tech companies (eToro, DigitalShadows, WorldRemits) – is the designated venue for the event, which will take place from 18:00 (BST) to 21:00 (BST). It will be a free event, and will give participants useful insights into the latest trends, stats and drivers from the cyber-security, finance, retail, and several other industries. An Event Apart
Scheduled at the Westin Chicago River North on August 28,29, 30 – An Event Apart deserves its place as one of the best digital designing and UX-focused events in the year. Graphic designers are expected to feature prominently among the attendees at the event, along with other service providers who wish to enhance the experience of their customers. There are ample scopes for visitors to strike up potentially valuable business connections and partnerships during An Event Apart, and to learn from industry leaders about the latest developments in the fields of graphic, interaction and UI/UX designing. Animation, CSS Grid designing, front-end website design & development, and SVG image formats will all be discussed in detail at the speaker sessions scheduled in the event. The USENIX Security Symposium will be held on 16-18 August in Vancouver (Canada). San Diego will host the eagerly anticipated Gartner Catalyst Conference from the 21st to the 24th of the month. For eCommerce executives, eTail (at Boston on 14 August) will be a mighty interesting event. August 26 is the date for TECHmunch San Francisco.
This August will be a happening month for tech enthusiasts and industry insiders, with so many big business events scheduled in it. Attending any of these events will be an exciting and valuable experience, that’s for sure!
